The Inspiration:
As far as I can remember I have always been enchanted by the world of fashion. Like most girls, I would admire my mother’s style and ache to want to grow up so I could experiment with my own. Her style has never had room for pop colors, I think I take that from her. She did however, own a woollen mustard yellow Loro Piana dress that I wanted and have successfully stolen.
Another pivotal moment in my journey was when I was developing a fine art series for my IB Art show. While I was researching for some inspiration for a piece that would neatly tie my whole series together. I started looking for the most iconic magazine covers of all time and stumbled upon a cover that I hold close to my heart. It was the 1950 January issue of Vogue. A “travel handbook” launched in the golden age of haute couture and unlike any other published before. The cover starred Jean Patchett and only featured her most prominent features. Everything else was negative space but the one thing that popped on that entire cover was the red lip. That is what inspired me to create “her elusive smile”.

The Journey:
I moved to St Martins in London after school and my first purchase was obviously the 1950 Vogue cover that I own to this date. It was a time when I truly experimented with my personal style, had some major triumphs and some terrible pitfalls but all in all an incredible experience. I then moved to Chelsea under the same University of the Arts umbrella even though my career counselor advised me to stay in fashion, I wanted to roam the same halls as Anish Kapoor because I am obsessed with his work.
Through my journey, I’ve had some memorable opportunities to work with phenomenal names in this field. My first was assisting the visual merchandiser at DVF for the spring-summer displays in London. On moving back, I got to work as a senior account executive for Fendi. A position that taught me a lot and led to some of my personal favourite achievements as showcased in the images below:

I then moved to Dubai and got to work at Harper’s Bazaar Arabia. A dream job and a dream team. I had the privilege of assisting on some phenomenal shoots and some extraordinary events. All of these moments in my life inspired me to start poretrait.

Poretrait is essentially an extension of me and my portfolio, a digital diary of everything that inspires me. A celebration of self-love, empowerment, and effortless style. From layouts, fashion marketing trends, beauty, and lifestyle. It’s been in the works for a couple of years and I hope you enjoy viewing it as much as I enjoy creating and sharing my content.
